1-Alkyl 2-(piperidinyl-methoxy, -methylthio or -methylamino) benzimidazole derivatives (I) are new. 1,2-Disubstituted benzimidazole derivatives of formula (I), including enantiomers, diastereoisomers and mixtures, and their salts are new. R1 = 1-8C alkyl (optionally substituted by OMe), cyclopropyl or (3-6C) cycloalkylmethyl; R2 = H, halo, Me, CF3 or OMe; X = O, S or NH; A = 3- or 4-piperidinyl; B' = CH2B1; B1 = H, 1-3C alkyl (optionally substituted by OMe, CF3, NHSO2Me or p-fluorophenoxy), 3-6C cycloalkyl, phenyl or 3- or 4-pyridyl.
