New chimeric polymerase with 5'-3'-polymerase activity, and optionally proofreading activity, used for polymerase chain reactions and sequencing

A chimeric polymerase (I) is new: (i) consists of functional amino acid (aa) fragments (A) from at least two different polymerases, (A) remaining functional in the chimera; and (ii) has 5'-3'-polymerase activity. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a DNA sequence (II) that encodes (I); (2) a vector (III) containing (II); (3) transformed cells containing (III); (4) the preparation of (I); and (5) kits containing (I).
