The substrate (1) is preheated to a temperature of between 40 and 60 deg C, a thermoplastic adhesive film is applied to the surface of the preheated substrate and then pressed onto the surface by revolving round brushes (6) while maintaining a continuous feed of the substrate. The preheating of the substrate may be carried out by radiation heat or by infrared radiation. The feed of the substrate is carried out at a speed which corresponds to the speed of thermoplastic adhesive film application.
