A method for preparing a form from a naturally occurring substance of biological origin includes the steps of: i) chilling the naturally occurring substance until firm; ii) comminuting the substance while still firm sufficiently to allow it to be formed in the desired form; iii) forming the comminuted substance into the desired form, e.g. a tablet or sheet; iv) subsequently drying the formed substance. The substance may be any one or more of plant based material, plant root material, woody plant material, plant leaf material, herbaceous plant material, fruit, kernels and pips. The substance may be snap frozen to -5oC or below so it is at least firm to touch, the chilled substance may be comminuted to a size sufficient to pass through 2mm grid apertures. |
