The service pipe (20) is connected above ground to the vertical barrel (32) of the tee-off fitting (30) using an attachment (100) which consists of two arms (110,120) with a rounded extremity (130) at one end to grasp the barrel (32) and half-shells (114,124) at the other to form an automatic gripping collar (140) on the service pipe (20). The arms (110,120) have a central space to house a connecting sleeve (34) with electric welding terminals (35).
