A process (I) for preparing an antibody composition directed against components of a biological fluid is new. A process (I) for preparing an antibody composition directed against components of a biological fluid comprises: (a) dividing the fluid into fractions (F1 and F2) and denaturing and deglycosylating the proteins in F2; (b) immunizing an animal with material from F1 and recovering an antibody composition (A1) from the animal, and immunizing another animal with material from F2 and recovering an antibody composition (A2) from the animal; and (c) mixing the two antibody compositions, incubating the mixture with components of the biological fluid immobilized on a solid matrix, washing the matrix, and eluting the antibodies to obtain a balanced antibody composition. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an antibody composition obtainable by process (I); (2) a process (II) for purifying one or more components of a biological fluid, comprising: (a) preparing a balanced antibody composition directed against components of the biological fluid other than the component(s) to be purified; (b) coupling the antibody composition to a solid support; and (c) incubating the biological fluid with the support to bind components other than the component(s) to be purified.
