PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide connection technology which can add a terminal transmitter-receiver without varying the line impedance of a transmission line in a transmission and reception system for signals which adopts a superposition two-core transmission system. SOLUTION: This signal transmission and reception system wherein a hot water supplier main body 1 and remote controllers 2a to 2n are mutually connected through interfaces 5, 5a to 5n for superposition transmission is provided with an input/output interface 7 which sends and receives input/output signals of a microcomputer 4 to and from the hot water supplier main body 1 without power supply superposition, and a fault diagnosing device 6 to be connected additionally is provided with a similar input/output interface 9. When the fault diagnosing device 6 is connected additionally, those input/output interfaces 7 and 9 are connected to each other and thus the fault diagnosing device 6 is connected with varying the line impedance of the transmission line 3.
