PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve compression efficiency while maintaining compatibility with the encoder of another system by performing the compression processing or a random data processing of the data of first two bytes corresponding to the form of the data after the same data continued for two bytes. SOLUTION: In the system for transferring compressed data 103 for which the source data 101 of a transfer origin computer 100 are compressed in an encoder 102 to a transfer destination computer 104, when the encoder 102 compresses the data, in a random character compression mode, the next two characters are looked ahead in the case that the same character appears and a processing for continuing random character compression is added when a first character is not a filling character and the two characters are not the same character. Also, when the next two characters are the filling characters or the repetitive data of two or more bytes, a same character compression mode processing is performed. Thus, without changing the compression expression method of the various kinds of the data, data increase after compression by the compression of the repetitive characters of the two bytes is suppressed.
