PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure long effective recording length (effective recording length) for recording the signal among the total length of tape even if a deformation which is generated by pressing of tape wound around a hub is generated. SOLUTION: In a tape cartridge 1 conforming to the DDS standards accommodating a hub rotatably within a cartridge case 2 in which the end portion of tape 3 is fixed to the hub with a recessed portion 11 formed at the external circumference surface 16 of hub 4 and a clamp member 17 fit to the recessed portion 11, the external diameter of a pair of hubs winding up the tape in the width of 4.0 mm is reduced to the range of 12.5-14.9 mm.
