PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission of simple mechanism and having good efficiency. SOLUTION: This ball type continuously variable transmission is configured with an input disc 2 and output disc 3 rotating individually round a shaft 1, a supporting rod 5 contacting with the non-parallel surfaces of the two discs 2 and 3 and capable of changing the angle to the direction of the shaft 1, and a ball 4 rotating round the supporting rod 5 for transmitting the power, wherein the angle of the rod 5 relative to the shaft 1 is varied to cause a change of the circumference of ball 4 contacting with the input disc 2 and output disc 3, and thereby stepless shifting is established.
