PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To circulate oil always in the fixed direction, and simplify a circulation cooling oil passage. SOLUTION: This starting mechanism is provided with a radial piston pump 36 between a pump impeller 30 of a torque converter 4 and a turbine runner 31, operated by a rotational speed difference between both the pump impeller and the turbine runner to deliver oil in a fixed direction in no relation to the direction of rotation. Oil delivered by the radial piston pump 36 is returned to the torque converter 4 through circulation cooling oil passage 42, 46, 47 having an oil cooler 41.
