PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closing-operation delay device, by which a time for passing a man, a wheelchair or a movable bed can be ensured by delaying the closing operation of a self-closing type sliding door only immediately after the sliding door starts its closing operation after the sliding door is opened up to an arbitrary place in the sliding door having structure in which the sliding door is closed automatically after it is opened. SOLUTION: In the self-closing type sliding door 1 having structure, in which the sliding door 1 can be moved along a rail 3 and is closed automatically after it is opened, one-way rotary damper 10 is installed at the proper place of the sliding door 1 brought near to the rail 3 as a shaft 11 is crossed at right angles in the guide direction by the rail 3 while an eccentric cam 12 is fixed onto the shaft of the rotary damper 10. An arcuate section 13 being frictionally brought into contact with the rail 3 and capable of being rolled is formed to a part of the eccentric cam 12, the direction of rotation of the eccentric cam 12 at the time of movement in the closing direction of the sliding door 1 is conformed to the braking direction of the rotary damper 10, and the braking of the rotary damper 10 is worked only when the arcuate section of the eccentric cam 12 is brought into contact with the rail 3 and rolled immediate after the start of the closing operation of the sliding door 1.
