PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately start image pickup and recording by automatically completing the preparation of image pickup at once and to prevent an erroneous operation caused by wrong manipulation during in operation. SOLUTION: Image pickup parts 3, 32 and 21 for picking up the image of an object, sound collecting parts 5, 26 and 51 for collecting sounds to be recorded, a recording and reproducing part 22 capable of recording and reproducing video signals and audio signals, a simplified operation instruction switch 10 and a simplified operation control means 241 are provided in the same casing. In this case, all the image pickup parts 3, 32 and 21, the sound collecting parts 5, 26 and 51 and the recording and reproducing part 22 can be operated in a manual mode or an automatic mode and when the simplified operation instruction switch is pressed, the simplified operation control means 241 immediately operates the image pickup parts 3, 32 and 21, and sound collecting parts 5, 26 and 51 and the recording and reproducing part 22 in the automatic mode and simultaneously disables the manual mode.
