A high-voltage (HV) circuit-breaker includes at least one interrupter unit (7,8) having a drivable switch-contact (14,15) in operative connection, directly or indirectly, with an electrodynamic drive (12) consisting of two alternately current- carrying coils (9,10), for generating a magnetic field, and a magnet armature. With an HV circuit-breaker having one or more interrupter units (7,8), the electrodynamic drive (12) and at least one capacitor bank (21) are arranged at HV potential and a power supply is provided for charging the capacitor bank (21) at high voltage (HV).
