PURPOSE: A method for preparing vinyl acetate is provided, which is free from the stickiness of a catalyst and the generation of lump during the long period of operation (more than 7 days). CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of supplying ethylene, liquid acetic acid and oxygen-containing gas into a fluidized bed (2) reactor; and reacting ethylene, liquid acetic acid and oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalytic material (7) at the elevated temperature to produce vinyl acetate. The catalyst material comprises a metal of group 8 such as palladium, an accelerator selected from the group consisting of gold, copper, cadmium, nickel and mixture thereof, and a promoter selected from salts of metal of group 1, group 2, lantanides and transition metals, such as cadmium, barium, calcium, sodium, iron, manganese, nickel, antimony, lantane and mixture thereof. The amount of the promoter is maintained to be less than 6 wt% based on the weight of the catalyst in the reactor. The reaction is carried out at a temperature of 100-400°C and at a pressure of 1-20 barg.
