A fuel injection valve (1) especially for fuel injection installations of IC engines has a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive actuator (3) and a valve closing body operable by the actuator via a valve needle (14) that works together with a valve seat face to a sealing seat. A longitudinal axis (32) of the actuator along which the actuator exerts an operating force, is located so as to be displaced by a certain distance but parallel with respect to a longitudinal axis (33) of the valve needle along which the valve needle can be moved. Between the actuator and the valve needle is provided a hydraulic translatory device (11). The actuator communicates with a translator chamber (13) of the translatory device which is filled with hydraulic medium via a first translator piston, and the valve needle via a second translator piston.
