PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a favorable indoor use of a preservative by mixing extract of podocarpus wood with pyroligneous acid and make the handling easy and further suppress its cost low. SOLUTION: An extract is prepared by soaking podocarpus wood in water to extract useful components of the wood and is mixed with a pyroligneous acid. Thus a low-priced preservative which exhibits sufficient preservative and termite-preventive effects as a whole and scarcely having irritating order can be prepared. The extract is preferably set about 40-80% to enhance the sufficient preservative effect, and the rest is made pyroligneous acid. In addition, podocarpus wood is soaked in water for a period of several weeks to about one year o effect natural extraction of effective components.
