An alkaline solution for the chemical deburring and/or structured etching of plastic elements, especially polyester elements (11), comprising a liquid solvent and a base in a wt. ratio of (100:0.1)-(100:20). Independent claims are also included for: (a) production of this solution by mixing a liquid solvent and a solid base in the above range of ratios by weight; (b) deburring and/or structured etching of plastic elements by immersing the element in the above solution, allowing the solution to act for a predetermined time and then removing the element from the solution; (c) equipment for deburring and/or structured etching, comprising a container to hold plastic elements and a solution as described inside the container.
