System has a reference signal generator, the signal frequency of which has constant relationship to that of the emission signal and a mixer device that mixes the received signal with the reference signal with a comparator device for determination of the phase and or amplitude of the emission signal from the output signal of the mixer. An Independent claim is made for a process using the above system.
