PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent incorporation in double ply as it is by integrally arranging the projecting part projecting from the side surface of a cylinder block or a cylinder head in a part of the outer periphery in a head gasket, and arranging the part by superposing metallic plates in the specific number of sheets or more in this projecting part. SOLUTION: The projecting part 11 projecting outward from the side surface of a cylinder block 1 or a cylinder head 16 is integrally arranged in the part of two places forming mutually the opposite angle among the outer periphery of a head gasket 3. A grommet piece 13 is inserted into an extracting hole 12 bored in these both projecting parts 11, the tip of the cylinder part 13b is expanded outward to be fixed by calking, and the part by superposing metallic plates by two sheets or more, for example, three sheets is arranged. With this constitution, clearance can be formed in the triply superposed part of the metallic plates, so that mutual close contact of mutual upper/lower parts can be prevented. While, since the triply superposed part is arranged in the projecting part 11, the triply superposed part is not sandwiched by the cylinder block 1 and the cylinder head 16.
