摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide with a simple construction without providing voltage detectors for respective cells a battery assembly charge/discharge state deciding method and a battery assembly charge/discharge state deciding device, which can decide charge/ discharge states such as overcharged/overdischarged states of respective cells. SOLUTION: Open circuit voltages VOi and the residual capacities SM of respective cell groups (modules), of which a battery assembly is composed, are obtained in accordance with terminal voltages VMi (i=1 to m) of the respective modules and a main current Is flowing through the battery assembly. Furthermore, the differentials dVOi of the open circuit voltages VOi corresponding to the residual capacities SM are calculated (S110-S140). If a module Mi, whose differential dVOi is larger than a 1st threshold TH1 which is set in accordance with reference characteristics, when there is no variation between respective cells of which the module is composed exists, it is decided that at least one cell of that module Mi is in an overcharged/overdischarged state and a discharge limiting command or a charge limiting command is outputted (S150-S180).
