PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a print of a subject image which does not have illumination insufficiency with a simple configuration by preventing a subject image of illumination insufficiency, etc., from being fetched. SOLUTION: In this certificate photograph producing device 1 that is provided with an image picking up part 21 which picks up a subject and outputs a subject image as an image signal, an illuminating part 24 which emits light and illuminates the subject, a printer part 22 which fetches a subject image signal and prints it, an operating part 6 that commands image picking up of the part 21 and a controlling part 23 which controls the parts 24 and 22, picks up the subject and prints the subject image on a recording medium, the parts 24, 21 and 22 are tuned by a reference signal outputted from the part 21, the subject is illuminated in synchronization with the reference signal, a subject image signal picked up when the illumination is performed is further fetched according to the output of a frame signal synchronizing with the reference signal, and the subject image is printed on the recording medium.
