PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent a collision between heads even when a conventionally unexpected large shock force is applied on a disk device having a pair of heads disposed to hold a recording medium therebetween. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a holder 5 for holding a disk cartridge 4 inserted therein, a slider 15 for moving this holder 5 between a non-recording/reproducing position and a specified recording/reproducing position, lower and upper heads 10 and 12, and a shock absorbing member 20 rotatably supported by the holder 5, positioned between the heads 10 and 12 during non-recording/reproducing, and retreated from between the heads 10 and 12 during recording/reproducing. Further, moments of both sides around the supporting position of the shock absorbing member 20 on the holder 5 are set to be roughly equal to each other, and the easy rotation of the shock absorbing member 20 is prevented even when a shock is applied from the side.
