PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the processing time of copying processing from being extended in the case of executing copying processing in each extended logical unit and to suppress the reduction of processing performance of a host I/O during the execution of copying processing not only for logical volumes in the extended logical unit but also other contents. SOLUTION: In the case of duplicating data by copying logical volumes stored in an external storage device 3 to an external storage device 4, an external storage control device 2 acquires the number of paths to be transferred to an external control device 9 based on the number of paths between both external storage control devices 2, 9 and the load state of the device 2, refers to a conversion table for finding out the number of logical volumes to be transferred to the device 9 from the number of paths and the load state, determines the number of logical volumes corresponding to the number of paths and the load state acquired, and transfers the logical volumes corresponding to the determined number to the device 9.
