PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize image recording by multi-path with a simple constitution by executing a pseudo-halftone treatment for input image data, and converting resolution of the data into resolution data for a recorder. SOLUTION: Input image data are stored in an image memory 222A, the data are sequentially read from the memory 222A, and the read data and its color code and a SCAN signal indicating a first path or second path is input as an address of a memory. Dot pattern data used for recording at a path 1 is stored corresponding to each color in the address of a former half of the memory, and a dot pattern data used for recording at a path 2 is stored corresponding to each color in the address of a latter half of the memory. Thus, the image in the multi-paths based on the pattern read from the memory is recorded.
