PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus and a communication method by which a plurality of real time data outputted at least from one signal source can be multiplexed and transmitted/received by one node. SOLUTION: When a plurality of data are multiplexed in time division and the resulting data are transmitted, an identification information addition means 12 adds identification information ID to each f a plurality of data, and a transmitter side switcher 13 decides any of transmission signal processing sections 14-1-14-n of a succeeding stage to process each of a plurality of the data, based on the identification information ID. The transmission signal processing means 14 applies processing individually to each of a plurality of the data (conversion into a format suitable for transmission, addition of required information and time base adjustment processing or the like), and a multiplexer section 15 multiplexes a plurality of the data processed by the transmission signal processing sections 14-1-14-n selected by the transmitter side switcher 13 into a form suitable for transmission and provides an output of the result.
