PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive antibacterial aluminum alloy capable of maintaining powerful antibacterial characteristic over a long period and also highly resistant to wear by using an aluminum material and by means of a process other than coating. SOLUTION: An aluminum alloy with antibacterial characteristic, which has a composition containing, by weight, 1.0-4.0% Mg, 0.10-0.4% Cr, and 0.05-0.5% Ag as essential components and having the balance consisting of <=0.5% Si, <=0.5% Fe, and <=0.3% of inevitable impurities, and Al, is used.
