PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate more than one kind of document data in proper format that a user desires at the same time through less-frequency scanning operation by generating and holding data in specific format and converting the held data to a format indicated by an indicating means. SOLUTION: A scanner controller 20 requested for a job checks the kind of a document by using a sensor and reads the attribute of a document file out after prescan settings are checked to check whether or not the matching document kind and prescan specification are set. When the matching document kind and prescan specification are set, the attributes of the document file are read out and a document format generated after scanning is added to a generated data list. The generated data list is checked to determine scan conditions and actual scanning operation is performed to generate data in format based upon the generated data list.
