PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for hierarchical electronic circuit data storage which suppress an increase in storage capacity and shorten a storage time. SOLUTION: The system is equipped with a cell layer information cell generating means 21 that generates and stores in a storage device 3 hierarchical electronic circuit connection information 31 including cell layer information having instance common information 40 composed of information which is generated for each definition by inputting hierarchical structure electronic circuit data 1 and can be made common among pieces of information of instances and instance characteristic information 50 composed of information which is represented uniquely by the instance and a connection information generating means that constitutes net connection information 60 which is generated for each piece of instance characteristic information and represents the connection of equal potentials; and the hierarchical electronic circuit connection information 31 has connection information which holds nets while the hierarchical structure of cells is held and makes it possible to individually identify all the nets in an electronic circuit while the hierarchical structure is maintained.
