PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber structure for filling gaps, suitable for filling gaps whose sections change stepwise or continuously, formed when two or more members are combined with each other to produce a fiber-reinforced composite material of different sections, between these members or on a curvature. SOLUTION: This fiber structure 1 for filling gaps is three-dimensionally braided to have a triangular section, whose area changes stepwise in the longitudinal direction. One side of the triangular pole of the structure 1 serves as the standard side of flat surface whereas each of the other two 3 and 4 has one or more steps. The structure 1 comprises a number of filament yarns 5 folded and arranged to have a given orientation on the structure surface. The three sections 1a to 1c of the structure 1 of different sectional area comprise different numbers of filament yarns. Carbon fibers are roved for the filament yarn 5.
