PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a gel exhibiting braking performances higher than those which an oil-extended elastomer exhibits by compounding an unvulcanized thermoplastic elastomeric polymer with poly(di-substituted ethylene/comaleimide) and an extender. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) an unvulcanized thermoplastic elastomeric polymer, (B) a polymer comprising (1) units each derived from R1R2C=CH2 (wherein R1 and R2 are alkyls which may be the same or different from each other) and (2) units each derived from maleic anhydride in the form of a maleimide formed by reaction with a primary amine such as a 1-50C alkylamine, a 1-50C alkylbenzylamine, or a 1-50C alkylphenylamine, and (C) an extender. The amounts of use are such that 100 pts.wt. component A is mixed with about 1 to 200 pts.wt. component B, and 100 pts.wt. component B is mixed with about 1 to 1,000 pts.wt. component C.
