A sand filter, preferably for the separation of particles from a liquid, especially water is described. It comprises a preferably rotationally cylindric container (1), with a bottom (2) intended to support a bed (6) of sand particles, an inlet (4) for the liquid at the outer portions of the container, and a centrally located relatively longitudinal outlet (7) for liquid, that has passed the bed. The outlet is provided with a parting wall (8) with openings, that are dimensioned not to admit passage for the sand particles. The sand filter is especially characterised in that a cleaning means (18) is provided to be transferable to the side of the parting wall (8), turned from the bed, with which cleaning means the parting wall may be periodically cleaned from clogging particles. |
