摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject lightweight crucible capable of being scaled up and enhanced in strength by integrally forming the crucible from a vertical shell part divisible into a plurality of straight shell regions in the axial direction and a bottom and controlling the heat input and output by the use of a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite with the directions of the fibers determined in response to the respective regions. SOLUTION: A graphite crucible 1 has a bottom 3 and a straight shell 4, and the straight shell 4 is formed from a lower vertical shell 5, a main vertical shell 6 and an upper vertical shell 7. The main vertical shell 6 is formed by a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite (horizontal arrangement C/C) with the carbon fibers arranged horizontally and radially, the bottom 3, lower vertical shell 5 and upper vertical shell 7 are formed from a composite (vertical arrangement C/C) with the carbon fibers arranged vertically to the axial direction of the vertical shell. The horizontal arrangement C/C differs in heat conductivity considerably from the vertical arrangement C/C, and hence the heat conductivity can be varied with the regions of the crucible 1. Accordingly, the controllability of the convection of the molten silicon is improved by controlling the heat input and output at the regions.
