The suspension device comprises a support component(12) with opening(16), two short spigots(22) extending outwards from each side of the base section of the support component, and two bearing plates for support of the spigots and for fastening into an opening(26) in the steel plate(S) to be lifted. The support component has the shape of an upturned U with a flat base section. The bearing plates are constructed in L-form with a vertical arm and bores(24) for the attachment of the short spigots. The thickness of the bearing plates is the same as that of the steel plate to be lifted. An Independent claim is included for a hook arrangement for the proposed suspension device with an eye for attachment to the end of a crane's wire cable and a hook for attachment to the suspension device.
