PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart persistent weight-reducing effect to underwear, apparel, or fibers constituting them that directly come into contact with skin by adhering caffeine together with an adhesive to the fibers. SOLUTION: Caffeine and at least one kind of adhesive selected from crosslinking agents, for example, 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate and/or resin binders, for example, urethane resin are added to water and they are mixed homogeneously to prepare a processing solution. Fibers, for example, cotton or wool or their products are treated with the processing solution by padding or exhaustion and heat-treated at a temperature of >=80 deg.C, preferably >=110 deg.C for 30 seconds to 30 minutes to apply 0.001-5 wt.%, preferably 0.005-1 wt.% of caffeine to the fibers and the objective functional fibers are obtained thereby.
