PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the speed of reading an image and a fingerprint, also to reduce the cost of an image pickup device and to make performable image processing in accordance with the kind of read data. SOLUTION: Data read by a CCD sensor 400 are preprocessed by a preprocessing part 401 and then, are outputted to an output image processing part 403 or a fingerprint data processing part 404. An output of the part 401 is switched by a selector 402 on the basis of the position of the sensor 400 detected by a position sensor 410. Data processed by the part 404 are collated with user's fingerprint data previously stored in a database 710 in a discrimination block part 405, and when data to be collated exist, image data processed by the part 403 are outputted.
