Novel 7-substituted-9-substituted amino-6-demethyl-6- -deoxytetracycline compounds with having the general formula (A), wherein X is amino, halo, or NR1R2, where R1 is H or C1-4 alkyl, R2 is C1-4 alkyl; R is R4(CH2)nCO- or R4'(CH2)nSO2 group, where n is 0 - 4 and the substituents R4 and R4' have their meanings disclosed in the claims; and Q is H or a group having the formula CH2(R5,R6), where R5 and R6 have their meanings disclosed in the claims; 7-nitrosubstituted intermediates and methods for making the compounds and pharmaceuticals based thereon. The said compounds exhibit antibiotic activities.
