The cutting device (1), used for the repeated cutting of long sheets (11) of metal is designed in order to make use of the forces created by the generation of pressure during the time of the blade (17) being in the final upper position for the operation of the clamping system (29), for the control of the upper, movable blade (17) and for the reduction of the noise, occurring during operation. The time needed for the individual cutting process can be significantly reduced, the noise is dampened.
