Producing seat belt with inflatable section, comprises weaving webbing with alternate single and double layers, and placing inserts into double layers

Webbing for a seat belt is woven on a narrow fabric loom, with alternate lengths (4,6) of single and double layer fabric. The double layer sections form a tube for an inflatable insert and the single layer sections are rolled up in the seat belt wind-up mechanism. A weakened line (SBL) is produced, by laser treatment, to break during inflation. An Independent claim is also included for producing seat belt webbing with an inflatable insert drawn into the double layer section with the aid of a warp thread.
