PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve the forming density by heating a die and metal powder at an appropriate temperature. SOLUTION: In the case that an upper punch 41 is fitted in a mortar 1 to compact metal powder, the mortar die 1 is preheated to a specified compacting temperature, the upper punch 41 is preheated from an inner circumferential side, the metal powder is preheated before being fed to the mortar die 1, the mortar die 1 and the upper punch 41 are maintained at the specified temperature, and then, the metal powder is filled in the mortar die 1, and compacted and released from the die.
