摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a friction material reduced in the production of a brake noise, especially, a creep goo sound at the start of, especially, an automatic car by using a fibrous material being an aramid fiber having an overall average equilibrium moisture content of a specified value or smaller, mixing the fiber with a friction modifier and a binder, and molding the obtained mixture. SOLUTION: The fibrous material used is an aramid fiber having an equilibrium moisture content of at most 3%. The equilibrium moisture content is defined as the percentage of the different between the weight of the fiber in a moisture equilibrium state at 23 deg.C at a relative humidity of 55% and the weight of the absolutely dried fiber on the basis of the weight of the absolutely dried fiber. In order to adjust the average equilibrium moisture content of the whole aramid fiber to at most 3%, it is suitable to use Kevlar 149 (TM) (a product of du Pont) having an equilibrium moisture content of 1.5% alone or to use a combination of Kevlar 149 (TM) with, for example, Kevlar 49 (TM) (a product of du Pont) having an equilibrium moisture content of 4.5% and having an overall average equilibrium moisture content of at most 3%.
