PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a suitably usable acaricide capable of eliminating a nasty smell and an unpleasant chemical smell, emitting a preferable aroma by formulating benzyl alcohol with phenylethyl alcohol. SOLUTION: This acaricide comprises (A) benzyl alcohol and (B) phenylethyl alcohol as active ingredients. Preferably, 10 pts.wt. of the component A is formulated with 3-70 pts.wt. of the component B. The acaricide can be formulated with a natural essential oil component having acaricidal properties in such a degree as not to cause a nasty smell and a problem of smell strength. The acaricide is especially suitable in a state of a control-release formulation making the best use of transpiration. Consequently, the acaricide does not have a nasty smell and an unpleasant chemical smell which are produced in the case of using the component A alone, emits a preferable aroma and favorably used. The acaricide is transpirable and can effectively treat a wide surface in contact with space.
