PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color transforming method by which colors are converted, while suppressing number of reference grating points and a scale of a device without degrading arithmetic accuracy. SOLUTION: A 1st output color component address generator 1005 receives 1st-4th color component data 1001-1004 in a inputted picture. The 1st output color component address generator 1005 combines high-order bits of each inputted color component to generate addresses for a color correction table. The color correction table 1006 receives the addresses and outputs grating point data 1007 consisting of 32 points around a target pixel to a nonlinear interpolation device 1008, which conducts nonlinear interpolation by using lower-order bits of a 1st component of the received picture. Linear interpolation devices 1009, 1010, 1011 uses low-order bits of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th components 1002, 1003, 1004 of the received image to conduct linear interpolation and outputs finally a 1st color component 1012 of an output image.
