PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter for microwaves, which has high reception sensitivity and high reception band of high accuracy precision by reducing the length of a hole opened in a cylindrical part of a waveguide in consideration of the problem in which the hole for probe insertion provided in the cylindrical part of the waveguide of the converter for microwaves used for reception of satellite broadcast or the like intercepts propagation of a signal, which reduces reception sensitivity or causes degradation of the reception band accuracy. SOLUTION: A first insulating cylinder 11 of a first probe 7 is shortened, and the length of a first probe setting hole 5 of a waveguide 1 is made approximately equal to that of a horizontal part 9 of the first probe 7, and a circular part 5d for insertion of the first insulating cylinder 11 is provided in the middle of a slit part 5c, to which the horizontal part 9 is to be inserted. When the first probe 7 is inserted to the waveguide 1, it is inserted perpendicularly, slided in the horizontal direction, and, reinserted perpendicularly.
