PURPOSE: A digital portable cellular telephone and a method for storing and reproducing voice data in the same are provided for inputting a voice data into a non-volatile memory using a vocoder and reproducing the voice data stored in the non-volatile memory. CONSTITUTION: An analog voice signal(T1) inputted from a microphone(90) is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter(100) and is changed to PCM data(T2). The data are converted into compressed data(T3) by a voice encoder(220). The compressed data(T3) are stored in the non-volatile memory(700). The compressed data(T3) are inputted into a channel encoder(300). The digital data(T4) are inputted into a RF transmitter(400) from the channel encoder(300). The output signal(T5) of a RF transmitter(400) is transmitted to the base station through the duplexer(500) and the antenna(550).
