PURPOSE: A sewage treatment system is provided, which is characterized in that the system prevents settled sludge from being resuspended, removes the sludge attached to contact media and overgrown, and increases treatment efficiency. The cost of maintaining the system is very low. CONSTITUTION: A sewage treatment system is characterized by comprising the following parts of: a reservoir(1) equipped with an inlet and an outlet, a compartment(3) dividing the reservoir(1) into upper part of contacting zone and lower part of settling zone, contact media(9) placed in the contacting zone to clarify sewage, suspending interceptors(11) located under the compartment, inclined slightly and made of metal or plastic. The compartment(3) is porous plate and helps water to move upward and downward. The contact media(9) is porous too.
