SURFACE COATING MIXTURE FOR PAPER AND PRINTING PAPER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface coating mixture capable of imparting excellent printability to paper by formulating a thermosetting resin of a reaction product between a carboxyl group-containing acrylamide-based polymer and an epihalohydrin with an anionic surface sizing agent. SOLUTION: This surface coating mixture is obtained by preparing an aqueous solution of a mixture of a thermosetting resin with an anionic surface sizing agent (e.g. an aqueous solution of a styrene-maleic acid-based copolymer salt) and is applied to the surface of paper to impart printing paper. The thermosetting resin is obtained by reacting a carboxyl group-containing acrylamide- based copolymer with an epihalohydrin in such a way that 0.1-1 epihalohydrin is reacted with 1 carboxylic group of the copolymer. The copolymer is obtained by the copolymerization of (meth)acrylamide, (meth)acrylic acid and other comonomer (N,N-dimethyl acrylamide).
