PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous annealing apparatus for a wire rod, in which the length of a cooling zone is made to the constant and the annealing state is always uniformized by stabilizing a returning state of cooling water and the cooling water level. SOLUTION: In the continuous annealing apparatus for a wire rod provided with a cooling tower frame 2 continuously arranging a heating zone and a cooling zone with the cooling water, water-tight plates 14 are set at an inlet and an outlet of the cooling zone. Further, groove width of insulating plates 14 in the cooling zone is widened, and at least two pieces of throating plates 10 are set at the outlet of the cooling tower frame.
