The heat generator has regulator that detects burner running times and fuel consumption inter alia and displays them. Master data relative to the fuel throughput for different nozzle sizes at the burner are stored in the regulator, which has devices for setting variable parameters such as fuel type and installed nozzle size. The fuel consumption determined from the master data, the variable parameters and the burner running times can be displayed as individual, summed or averaged evaluations.
