PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the fixed standard of image correction quality by testing a processed image, that is subjected to image display after compared with a sample image which resembles the photographic information of an input image or subject information. SOLUTION: A data processing part 50 performs image data correction of R, G and B image data inputted from a scanner 12, such as DC offset correction, dark period correction, defective pixel correction and shading correction and performs Log conversion. The converted digital image data are stored in a pre-scan memory 52 in the case of pre-scanning but in a real scan memory 54 in the case of real scanning, respectively. A condition setting part 56 reads pre-scanned image data from the memory 52, decides an image processing condition and performs auto setup. The decided image processing condition is integrated, sent to a pre-scan image processing part 58 and a real scan image processing part 60 and used for respective image processing.
